I loved this book! The NC State run up to the National Title occurred while my father was battling the same cancer that took Jimmy V. Valvano’s illness and his famous speech all occurred shortly after my dad (also a Rutgers grad) passed. This book raced me back to the 1980s – it made me laugh out loud, and cry. He was obviously a great guy who was loved by his teammates, players and colleagues in the coaching world. I’m sure they too laughed and cried with Jimmy V.

I was very pleased with this book and the condition it arrived in. As a used book, it was categorized to be in very good condition and it definitely was. As the seller indicated, the outside cover showed some slight “rubbing” but other than that it was like new. The price was excellent and I will purchase from this seller again! Thank You!

Jimmy V led a life of passion. Always dreaming big, he was able to inspire others to see his vision – the ultimate motivation. He was human too, getting caught up in his sudden rise to the top. His younger brother, the author, does a great job telling the story of Jimmy V’s life and the people who inspired him to greatness. Jimmy V touched many lives while living, and continues to touch lives through the Jimmy V Foundation. The man who dreamed big ultimately left a legacy larger than life.

Great storytelling of what sounds like a quirky, hard working, loyal, vibrant and in some ways, misunderstood character in sports. Fell in love with Jim’s passion after the ESPY speech, first time I’ve heard first hard other stories about him. Book is inspiring and will deliver it’s fair share of laughs about a man we lost too soon and all wish we could have known.

I remember little bits of him as a kid seeing Jimmy V on tv. His speech at the ESPYS, Man,1993 was a long time ago, is my most vivid memory of him. If there was a speech I’d want to moonrise, this is the one. I watch it online every once in a while.The book was an excellent read. Highly recommend.I lost my dad to cancer in 2024. He was a basketball guy. I’m reading this stories of Jimmy in the book, goofy things. I hear stories about my dad in situations like Jimmy V. Reminds me of how my dad as famous in his own world and as awesome as Jimmy V.
